Micky van de Ven Brace Halts Everton's Run at Brand New Stadium

Micky van de Ven found the net on two occasions as Tottenham extended their unbeaten run in away games in the Premier League and delivered the Toffees their first defeat at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The Toffees were undefeated in their five previous fixtures at their recently opened stadium at the dockside location, having left Goodison Park behind after 133 years at the conclusion of last season.

But Spurs captain the Dutchman pounced twice from corners in the opening 45 minutes to place their impressive record at risk, and they were unable to turn it around before the midfielder - set up by former Toffees attacker Richarlison - nodded in a third to seal the victory.

The Everton defender believed he had equalized the scores five minutes after Van de Ven's first goal, glancing a powerful header past the Spurs keeper from an Everton corner.

Beto, in the meantime, failed to convert a number of chances, while the Italian goalkeeper made a succession of excellent stops to guarantee Tottenham went five away games unbeaten in the English top flight.

But the VAR stepped in, instructing the match official to check the score on the screen and the official decided that the winger and the attacker were in an illegal position and had interfered with the Tottenham goalkeeper.

The win moves the manager's team up to third in the Premier League, five points off north London rivals and table-toppers the Gunners.

Everton stay in 14th position and are half a dozen points clear of the relegation zone.

Following a drab midweek display in the Champions League against the French side, where they mustered a only attempts on goal, Frank chose the French striker in attack instead of ex-Everton forward Richarlison.

The break in the team's winning streak at home won't be a major worry for David Moyes, but their striker situation are.

The forward and Thierno Barry - the Everton's two established centre-forwards - had scored just a single goal between them before Sunday's match.

It wasn't for a lack of chance. Most of the home side's attacks came through the winger and Ndiaye, who tirelessly whipped dangerous balls into the Tottenham penalty area.
